Santa Monica is putting the brakes on a state housing law, at least temporarily, by raising development limits on nearly 100 single-family lots near the Expo/Bundy Metro stop. City council members voted to exempt 89 lots in the Pico neighborhood transit zone from Senate Bill 79, which allows taller and denser housing near transit, the Santa Monica Daily Press reported. The ordinance applies to single-family parcels bounded by Interstate 10, Dorchester Avenue, Exposition Boulevard and Centinela Avenue.
